Hello dear reader!

I’ve spent the past few months in Perth, Ontario. A beautiful town, not far from Ottawa. It’s one of those heritage towns, made out of old stone buildings, beautiful parks, and filled with little touristy stores and cafes.

Unlike most small towns, Perth is one with a lot of hope and growth in mind. I see it with the care businesses run things here, and the workings of creating a new local college that will teach heritage carpentry.

I came here to learn a bit about woodworking at the Rosewood fine furniture wood working studio - a great and professional place if you want to learn all you need to get started in a great hobby. Working with your hands, making furniture, you get to slow down and think a bit. I thought about disease.

Disease sucks, but sometimes there is a certain warmth to it. Your old man with back pain? He got it working hard to keep you fed. Your cousin with diabetes? No one can cook up a sweet meal for you and make you laugh like her. Buddy with lung cancer? Well he did look cool smoking after all!

What about the guy with syphilis? Well that warmth fades real quick when he keeps wanting to see your child all alone for some reason. Careful now, you don’t want those blisters spreading and wiping out the town.

…Anyways, forgive me as I’m an odd photographer - here’s my favourite picture I took in Perth:
